Kevin Durant Talks Big 3 Losing in Debut vs. Nets

Kevin Durant postgame press conference after the Phoenix Suns (13-11) fall to the Brooklyn Nets (13-10) 116-112 in the debut of the Big 3

The night that Suns’ fans have been waiting for since June finally game to fruition 24 games in, as Phoenix’s Big 3 of Durant, Devin Booker and Bradley Beal played their first game together. This was Durant’s first game back after missing the last two due to a left ankle sprain.

However, it was not the night any fan hoped for, as the trio could not help the Suns, who were still missing a lot of key role players, pull off the victory over the Nets.

The star trio scored or assisted on 97 of the team’s 112 points. Durant had 27 points and six rebounds in the loss.

“We showed some spurts,” Durant said. “You got to give the Nets credit. They played like three or four different defenses tonight to try to throw us off. But I think we fought through it and figured some stuff out. We’re only gonna get better.

This game also marked the return of two of the most beloved members in Suns’ franchise history, as Mikal Bridges and Cam Johnson came back to the Valley for the first time.

For Durant, it was his first time going against his former team as a member of the Phoenix Suns.

“When I see people, regardless of what shoe they have on, what jersey they have on, it’s always good to share moments together again, and that’s what it felt like tonight,” Durant said. “I’ve got so many friends around the league that I’ve played with on different teams. So tonight was one of those nights where I got to see a lot of people that I really respect, that really put our heads down and worked together. We did some cool things, so it was fun to see them.”
