JUST NOW: Reuniting with his former squad, according to a report, isn’t “far-fetched”

The NBA hasn’t seen this situation in 19 years, yet it’s already May and LeBron James, Stephen Curry, and Kevin Durant are back in the locker room.

There is little chance that any of the three legends will be in the running for a title the following season unless their clubs make significant roster additions this summer.

Linking up with two of the three could be the most effective way to defeat the rising youth.

During the trade deadline on February 8 of this year, the Warriors made an attempt to put James and Curry together. ESPN claims that James rejected the proposal.

Could the Warriors now be considering making a trade in exchange for Durant?

Monte Poole, the beat reporter for the Warriors, stated on Monday that there is a greater chance of a Curry-Durant reunion than of Curry and James ever being teammates. According to the NBC Sports story, the Paris Olympics, which will bring Durant and Curry back together as teammates after a five-year break, could be the catalyst for a trade.

Curry and Durant will be back together as part of Team USA in July. Head coach is [Steve] Kerr. They will have nearly six weeks to spend talking and remembering, assuming nothing changes in the interim,” said Poole, adding that Warriors governor Joe Lacob’s decision to retire Durant’s No. 35 jersey is a sign.

The Warriors need to make an offer to Phoenix that includes Andrew Wiggins, Moses Moody, Jonathan Kuminga—their most valuable player outside of Curry—and at least a few first-round selections. In the next seven years, Golden State will only have two tradeable first-round picks (2025–27 or 2026–28).

The Warriors are under pressure to make the most of Curry’s time because he turns 37 in March. This off-season may be their final remaining opportunity.
