Dan Scarr sends Birmingham City message after sealing transfer to promotion rivals Wrexham

Dan Scarr is relishing the opportunity to battle Birmingham City after dropping back down to League One with Wrexham.

The central defender joined Hollywood-backed Wrexham from Plymouth Argyle last week. Scarr was linked with a switch to Blues earlier this summer but, as BirminghamLive reported at the time, a transfer was never on the cards.

Scarr – who played once for Blues’ first team during a two-year spell at the club earlier in his career – will line up against his boyhood club in League One. Wrexham visit St Andrew’s in mid-September and both teams are expected to be in contention for promotion.

“I’m a Birmingham City fan, obviously they got relegated last season so it will be good to play them and I know it will be a good atmosphere there,” said Scarr. “They’ll probably let Wrexham take a load of fans as well, so it will be a good atmosphere from both.

“I’m a Birmingham City fan and now a Wrexham fan, but I’ll be making sure we try our best to win, that’s for sure.”

The 29-year-old has signed a three-year contract with Wrexham after four years at Plymouth Argyle which saw him work his way back up to the Championship. Plymouth survived on the final day of last season at Blues’ expense and have since appointed Wayne Rooney as manager.
