Striker set to complete £2m transfer amid Birmingham City interest
Birmingham City had developed an interest in striker Sinclair Armstrong prior to his impending move to Bristol City, according to reports.
Armstrong is swapping Queens Park Rangers for Ashton Gate this summer and he wasn’t short of suitors – Stoke City, Sunderland and, it has been claimed, Blues were also admirers.
Irish international Armstrong, 21, who is Dublin born and joined QPR from Shamrock Rovers in 2020, has spent plenty of time playing in the Championship in the last couple of years – indeed last year he played 41 times in all competitions and scored four times. Armstrong’s performances led to his first senior international appearance in September of last year.
It’s believed that Bristol City are spending around £2m to lure Armstrong away from Loftus Road and bring him to the West Country – but the Robins were far from the only outfit who held an interest in Armstrong, with Stoke also keen on completing a move for the centre forward.
BristolLive also claim that Blues showed an interest in rivalling Bristol City late on, but Armstrong is all set now for his move across to Ashton Gate with a medical pencilled in for today (Thursday). He’ll become their third signing of the summer following the arrivals of fellow forward Fally Mayulu and Japanese winger Yu Hirakawa.
