Just In: Former Lincoln City Winger To Reunite With Former Manager

Harry Anderson has been linked with a permanent switch to Colchester United following his release from Stevenage, according to a report in the Daily Gazette.

Anderson spent the second half of the season on loan with Danny Cowley’s side, playing 10 matches and contributing two goals and two assists as The U’s clambered to League Two safety.

The winger is now on the lookout for a new club after his time at Stevenage came to an end and he is reportedly set to join up with the Cowley brothers again having already worked with them at Braintree Town and Lincoln City before this loan spell.

After securing their Football League status, Cowley has explained how he expects big changes to the playing staff at the Colchester Community Stadium.

One of those changes could be the permanent addition of Anderson, despite the 27-year-old being set to miss much of the off-season due to the injury he suffered against Stockport County. He suffered a high-grade hamstring injury that brought his season to an end and he began his rehabilitation with the club.

Anderson came through the ranks at Peterborough United before joining the Cowleys at Lincoln City, where he would go on to make over 200 appearances. He helped the Imps to the National League title, a Football League Trophy victory and the League Two championship before heading to Bristol Rovers.

He helped Rovers to promotion from League Two and then moved on to Stevenage. The former Pirate has amassed over 300 career appearances with 83 goal involvements.

Harry Anderson’s career has stalled somewhat since signing for Stevenage and he will be frustrated that injury curtailed his spell with Colchester.

Anderson and the Cowleys know each other inside out and it is no surprise to see him linked with them again. Anderson needs to play and be at a place where he feels valued and he will certainly get that with The U’s management.

Colchester will be desperate to improve on this season and the signing of Anderson would provide them with a player who never stops working for his team, provides an outlet with his pace and is capable of quality moments.
