Just In: Atlanta Braves are allegedly interested in acquiring….

Braves have reached out to Angels about a Taylor Ward trade

The Braves have yet to make a move at the trade deadline, but there are more than 24 hours left until the final bell. If we’ve learned anything from Alex Anthopoulos, Atlanta isn’t done dealing until the fat lady sings.

In the last couple of days, reports have surfaced linking the Braves to the White Sox, specifically Garrett Crochet, as well as Blake Snell and the Giants. Additionally, Jim Bowden of The Athletic reports that the Angels have listened to the Braves in regards to a potential Taylor Ward trade.

The Braves, more than anything, need to relegate Adam Duvall, Eddie Rosario, and Jarred Kelenic to platoon roles. Hell, an argument could be made that a bench role could serve them better. A Taylor Ward trade would go a long way in accomplishing just that.

Moreover, he’s under team control for the next couple of seasons, which could be a goal of Alex Anthopoulos’, to potentially fill a 2025 and beyond void before it even arises.

The trade deadline approaches rapidly, and the Braves have been silent thus far, but nobody should be surprised if a flurry of deals comes in at the buzzer, as Alex Anthopoulos is prone to do.

One new name linked to Atlanta is Blake Snell, who is drawing interest from several clubs, including the Braves, according to Jim Bowden of The Athletic.

“Many teams, including the Yankees, Orioles, Astros and Braves, are showing interest in Snell, who has posted a 0.75 ERA over four starts in July.”

Snell is coming off a Cy Young campaign, but his market wasn’t as robust as he and his super agent Scott Boras thought, so he settled for a two-year deal with the Giants.

However, much of the 2024 season has been marred by injuries and struggles. His free agency lingered, forcing him to ramp up quickly to start the season. Snell spent a couple of stints on the injured list after just six starts in which he posted a 9.51 ERA.
