JUST IIN! 49ers LB Dre Greenlaw offers an encouraging update on his recovery.

At the Dwight Clark Legacy Series event in San Jose on Thursday night, c was presented with the Dwight Clark Award.

 

The San Francisco 49ers linebacker gave a positive update on his healing process during the event regarding the torn Achilles he sustained during the Super Bowl in February.

The disclosure comes after Greenlaw spoke with NBC Sports Bay Area last week, during which he revealed similar details regarding his recuperation and addressed the possibility that the UNLV practice grounds played a role in his injury. Thursday night, Greenlaw restated these points.

Greenlaw added, “It’s a long, long, slow process,” in front of the California Theatre patrons in San Jose. “However, I’m feeling incredibly terrific. To be honest, I’m glad I can walk on stage. Approximately three months have passed since the injury. I recently removed the boot and have been slowly but steadily recovering every day to regain my strength and mobility.

“And yeah, just doing whatever it takes to be able to get back on the field as soon as possible.

In the fifth round of the 2019 NFL Draft, San Francisco selected Greenlaw, an Arkansas native, at pick No. 148 overall. In 15 starts with the 49ers last season, he played 89 percent of the defensive snaps and finished with 120 tackles, including five for a loss, four quarterback hits, 1.5 sacks, and four passes defensed, according to Pro Football Reference.

As he recovers, Greenlaw is preparing for his sixth NFL season.
