West Ham star Jarrod Bowen was “absolutely devastated” after having a goal disallowed by VAR against Belgium.
That is according to Sky Sports’ Rob Dorsett, with the winger believing he had scored his first Three Lions goal, only for VAR to rule it out for offside.
The Hammers ace started and played 80 minutes in the 2-2 draw on Tuesday (26 March) after appearing from the bench in the 1-0 loss to Brazil.
“I think of all of England’s wide players, I thought he was the most impressive over the two games,” said Dorsett, as per Sky Sports.
“So close to getting his first England goal tonight but for that VAR decision, he told us he was absolutely devastated by that, didn’t even know VAR was in place in the friendlies when we spoke to him after the game.”
Will West Ham ace Jarrod Bowen go to Euro 2024 with England?
London Stadium star Bowen hasn’t always been given the chance to impress England boss Gareth Southgate.
But the man in the dugout simply could not ignore the winger this time around given his displays under David Moyes.
And he certainly didn’t disappoint on the international stage, with Bowen shining brightly in both friendly matches at Wembley.
He has now potentially given Southgate a selection headache, with the manager soon needing to name his squad for this summer’s Euro 2024 tournament.
Southgate will undoubtedly already have the majority of his squad picked, but given the long list of attacking stars, Bowen is perhaps on the periphery at this moment in time.
All the talented winger can do is continue impressing at the London Stadium between now and the end of the season, with the Hammers hoping for a strong end to the campaign, both in the Premier League and Europa League.
