Guardian journalist Jacob Steinberg has just written an extensive article on the current situation of West Ham United director of football Tim Steidten.
Tim Steidten joined West Ham as the club’s new DOF in July of 2023, but he is already being heavily linked with a move to Liverpool.
And now Jacob Steinberg has provided an update on the German’s situation at the London Stadium, but it just doesn’t add up if you ask me.
Hammers boss David Moyes is really feeling the heat in his role as manager right now, with the board said to be extremely unhappy after last weekend’s defeat to Nottingham Forest.
Meanwhile, Steidten seems to be strengthening his influence at West Ham, having just appointed his brother, Moritz, to join the scouting team (Daily Mail), and also Max Hahn as the club’s new head of technical and scouting analysis.
The Guardian journalist explained yesterday that the Hammers are facing a real battle if we are to keep hold of Steidten beyond the end of the season.
Steidten is said to be frustrated at how the club operate and feels as though he hasn’t been given enough power.
I’m sorry but this just doesn’t add up to me. Why on earth would he have appointed his brother, and Max Hahn, if he had plans to leave?
Also, if he was that unhappy with the environment at the London Stadium, surely he wouldn’t even bother selling the move to a family member in the first place!
I would suggest that the more likely scenario is that Moyes will end up moving on from West Ham, with the German staying and being tasked with the required rebuild.
Jacob Steinberg definitely has contacts in high places at West Ham, but his latest claim about Tim Steidten just seems to lack any kind of substance if you ask me.
