49ers superstar returns to full practice after dealing with foot injury.

The San Francisco 49ers haven’t been doing well lately.

With Brandon Aiyuk’s protracted holdout, Trent Williams’ holdout, and an injury list that seemed to expand by the day, it appeared that only negative news was coming from Santa Clara for a while.

Linebacker Fred Warner suffered foot soreness as one of his first ailments during camp. According to ESPN’s Nick Wagoner, Warner returned to full practice on Wednesday, which is fantastic news for the 49ers.

Warner’s injury did not appear to be serious enough to keep him out of action for an extended period. He returned to practice before Wednesday but did not completely participate.

Still, the 49ers needed a win on the injury front, and Warner’s return as a full participant before the team’s second preseason game is encouraging.

Warner’s availability for Sunday’s game against the New Orleans Saints is unclear. Head coach Kyle Shanahan said certain starters might participate after the club had to cancel joint practices with New Orleans. The 49ers’ joint sessions are normally classed as game reps, therefore they do not play their starters in the game.

Given Warner’s recent return to full practice, the team may opt to rest its All-Pro linebacker on Sunday. In either case, he appears to be on pace for Week 1, which is the best news the 49ers could have received.
