Hawks Release Initial Injury Report Ahead of Wednesday Matchup With the Brooklyn Nets

The Atlanta Hawks have not played a game since Saturday’s loss on the road to the Milwaukee Bucks and have not played a home game in a couple of weeks. The Hawks were on a five-game road trip and went 2-3 over that stretch and now come back home to face a team they have already beaten this season.

The Brooklyn Nets make their way back to Atlanta, hoping to avenge their earlier loss in the season to the Hawks. It was an overtime shootout the last time these two teams played, with Trae Young and Mikal Bridges both scoring over 30 points.

Ahead of the game tomorrow night, Atlanta released its injury report and thankfully there is nothing new to report on it. Rookies Kobe Bufkin and Mouhamed Gueye remain out while forward Jalen Johnson is still out with a wrist injury.

The Hawks have been the same kind of team over the course of the season. They have one of the best offenses in the NBA, but one of the worst defenses.

Atlanta is 2nd in the NBA in PPG, 16th in field goal percentage, 9th in three-point percentage, third in offensive rebounding, and fourth in free throw attempts. Per Cleaning the Glass, Atlanta is 3rd in points per 100 possessions, 11th in effective field goal percentage, 4th in offensive rebounding rate, and 4th in free throw rate.

The defense has been atrocious this season and much worse since Johnson has gone down with his injury. Per Cleaning the Glass, Atlanta is 25th in points allowed per 100 possessions and 28th in effective field goal percentage allowed. Both numbers are really bad, but they have been much worse since Johnson was injured.

We will see if they can be better on that end tomorrow night against the Nets.
