Good news:Rio Ferdinand agree to relocate at Wrexham

Ryan Reynolds asks Rio Ferdinand to relocate after claim he’ll help him at Wrexham

Rio Ferdinand humorously offered to assist Ryan Reynolds “off the pitch” with Wrexham, despite the football club clinching successive promotions.

The Hollywood actor and his business partner, Rob McElhenney, made headlines when they acquired the Welsh team back in November 2020, following a season where Wrexham barely avoided being relegated as they finished at the 19th spot. Taking the helm, the hefty investments from the new owners propelled the club up the National League ladder, securing an 8th-position finish in 2020/21 and then runner-up in 2021/22, before qualifying for promotion as champions in 2023.

Capitalising on this surge of success, Wrexham further clinched their successive promotion into League One at the end of 2023/24, coming second only to Stockport with 88 points. Now preparing for the toughest test in the third tier, Reynolds joked about eyeing some assistance from football stalwart Ferdinand.

Reynolds quizzed Ferdinand if he’d be open to contributing to Wrexham’s cause during a discussion with fellow star Hugh Jackman on the Rio Ferdinand Presents FIVE podcast. Responding to the request, Ferdinand shared: “I have huge respect for what you’ve done.”

At this point, Reynolds interjected asking: “How much respect? Are you willing to relocate… or?” To which Ferdinand wondered: “In what capacity are you looking for me to be recruited?” before revealing his sole precondition: “I can’t play no [sic] more – but I’d help you off the pitch.”
