GOOD NEWS: Yankees secretly made a Trade that amazed fans

General manager Brian Cashman talks on the phone prior to a Grapefruit League spring training game between the Washington Nationals and the New York Yankees at FITTEAM Ballpark of The Palm Beaches on March 12, 2020 in West Palm Beach, Florida. Many professional and college sports are canceling or postponing their games due to the ongoing threat of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak.

They swept the Houston Astros at Minute Maid Park in the four-game series they played from Thursday through Sunday.

Organizationally speaking, the Yanks have been active in recent weeks with minor trades and acquisitions.

They haven’t made any big moves since signing Marcus Stroman in January, but they have managed to improve the quality of their team nonetheless, particularly their depth.

On Sunday, New York announced a minor trade.

“The Yankees have acquired RHP Jake Cousins from the White Sox in exchange for cash considerations,” MLB insider Mark Feinsand tweeted.

They actually didn’t lose anything of note: just cash, and added a potentially useful right-handed reliever.

Last year, he posted a 4.82 ERA in 9.1 frames with the Milwaukee Brewers, and also accumulated a 6.35 ERA between Triple-A Nashville, the ACL Brewers, and Triple-A Sugar Land (with the Houston Astros).

Cousins is, stuff-wise, the prototypical Yankees reliever: he relies on a power sinker and a slider, much like Clay Holmes, Jonathan Loaisiga, and many others in New York’s bullpen.
