GOOD NEWS: Five players who could join Man City this summer

Manchester City won the treble last term, becoming only the second English side to achieve the feat. It was a remarkable campaign and one which firmly etched Pep Guardiola’s name as one of the greatest ever coaches to take to the dugout.

But football is ever revolving and the Citizens have had to keep up the pace of this season as well. Things haven’t all been smooth sailing by any measure – chinks in the armour have appeared. Luckily there is a summer window on the horizon that could be the answer to their prayers.

Savio

Sky Sports reported that Savio, the Brazilian winger, finalised a deal to join the Premier League chapions from Troyes after an impressive loan spell at Girona, where he shone in La Liga this term.

Girona has emerged as one of the notable narratives of the season in Spain, presently positioned between Real Madrid and Barcelona in the standings. Savio’s flair on the left flank has enthralled fans. Girona are part of City Group and the move seemed on the cards for some time.

Claudio Echeverri

We’re cheating a bit here, but Argentina’s touted ‘next Lionel Messi’ is set to join Man City. The teenager verbally committed to a six-year contract with the club, as per reports, with the club agreeing to a £22 million fee. He is back on loan him back to River Plate until January 2025. So not quite the summer move, but a huge indication of Man City’s desire to keep their eye on the South American market, nonetheless.

Bruno Guimaraes

FootballTransfers revealed that Man City have been weighing up whether to meet the release clause of Guimaraes.

The Newcastle midfielder is renowned for his ability to control the tempo of the game, break up opposition attacks, and contribute offensively, with goals and assists. Pep Guardiola, in particular, is a big fan of the Brazil international’s versatility and tenacity. The Spaniard also likes Lucas Paqueta but the ongoing off-the-field issues involving the West Ham man means a move is unlikely.

Lucas Paqueta

It’s no secret that during the summer, City were fervently chasing a deal for the West Ham star, who indeed, then became embroiled in an FA betting investigation. The club swiftly withdrew from the proposed £80 million agreement but didn’t entirely dismiss the possibility of revisiting negotiations when the winter window arrived.

Despite the 25-year-old’s denial of the allegations and the ongoing investigative process, it;s thought that Man City remain hesitant to take the plunge on the Brazilian unless they can secure a discounted fee, or the allegations are cleared up in some way. The issue around Sandro Tonali this season will have had a huge knock-on effect to other clubs.

Pau Cubarsi

What more can be said about the outstanding Pau Cubarsi? Barcelona have unearthed a real gem in the player. The teengaer has come into the first-team and made a place in the starting line-up his own.

Lats summer reports suggested that the Barcelona youngster declined a lucrative offer from Man City, opting instead to remain at the Camp Nou. T However, despite Cubarsi signing his first professional contract in July, it’s thought that City’s interest persists. The future of Ronald Araujo will go some way in working out what will transpire.
