Napoli have now reached an agreement on personal terms with Nottingham Forest midfielder Orel Mangala.
Well, it would appear that this one is now gathering pace, despite Mangala getting his Forest place back recently.
Mangala signed for Forest in the summer of 2022 for a fee of around £12 million and he’s made 51 appearances.
It’s a shame that Forest are in this situation but with finances tight, it’s fair to say that some sales would help the club.
It’s hard to see how Forest can let Mangala leave right now, with Ibrahim Sangare currently at the African Cup of Nations.
The Reds need all the players they can get right now and Mangala has always been a consistent performer.
Forest will do some business this month – with both outgoing and incoming deals likely – but this one doesn’t make sense.
Mangala is a very important player and unless another midfielder is on the radar, Forest must resist a sale.
In our view, the fact Forest are even in this situation is a blemish on the hierarchy and their scattergun approach to recruitment.
