Ex Sky Blue Striker 44th birthday Congrats Marlon

Today, former Sky Blues striker from the previous decade Marlon King is celebrating a birthday! The South Londoner was born in Dulwich on 26th April 1980 and is therefore celebrating his 44th birthday today.

The striker signed up to CCFPA in 2012 (coincidentally at roughly the same time as former Sky Blue skipper Michael Doyle)! He always managed to be amongst the goals in a fairly long and somewhat varied playing career across the leagues scoring 167 goals in 500 games between 1998-2014 for a dozen clubs.

Marlon’s life has not been without controversy and he has picked up a number of convictions which have disrupted his playing career. Starting off with non-league Dulwich Hamlet he went on to play for Barnet (1998), Gillingham (2000) and Nottingham Forest (2003) where he also had a loan spell at Leeds United. After another loan period he signed for Watford in 2005 where he became Championship top scorer the year they made it to the Premier League. Marlon then moved on to Wigan Athletic in 2008 where he also had loan spells at Hull City and Middlesbrough.
