Everton could land unprecedented punishment after points deduction appeal – Keith Wyness
Former Everton chief Keith Wyness is “very concerned” that the Premier League could give the Merseyside club a half-point deduction in their appeal verdict.
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, the 66-year-old – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – suggested that a suspended points deduction would be the best verdict from Everton’s appeal.
Everton are in the process of appealing their two-point deduction given as a result of their 2022-23 PSR breach.
The verdict is now expected to be delivered before the end of the season after the Premier League decided to fast-track the process to provide more clarity over league positions.

The Merseyside club successfully appealed their first points deduction earlier this season – reducing a 10-point penalty down to six.
Wyness told Football Insider’s Inside Track Podcast that he is concerned about the Premier League giving an unprecedented half-point deduction.
“I think a suspended points deduction would be good,” Wyness said.
“I’m still very concerned about where this could go and whether it could be a half-point deduction or if it is cancelled entirely.
“It is still strange and we don’t know where we will end up – half a point could still be key for Everton this season after they took a hit to their goal difference this week.“
