Ethan Ampadu admits ‘I can’t hear’ with Leeds United atmosphere claim amid Derby defeat message
Leeds United captain Ethan Ampadu has lauded the Elland Road crowd for their role in the comprehensive playoff win over Norwich City – admitting he couldn’t hear himself think.

Daniel Farke’s attention will now turn to the playoff final at Wembley a week on Sunday, where they will face the winner of Southampton vs West Brom. Ilia Gruev got the hosts off to the perfect start with a clever free-kick to outfox Angus Gunn before Joel Piroe and Georginio Rutter added two more in the first half to hand Leeds a 3-0 half-time lead.

Crysencio Summerville rounded off the scoring with just over 20 minutes ago, netting his 21st goal of the season in a record-breaking campaign for the highly-rated Dutchman.

Ampadu felt that Leeds brushed off recent criticism following their disappointing end to the campaign, which saw their title hopes quickly fade after one win in their final six Championship matches.

“Towards the end of the season, there was a lot of talk about how we were playing and how we weren’t on the front foot, how we weren’t aggressive, how we weren’t clinical and we always had our belief that on our day we can be hard for anyone to play against,” said the Welshman amid chants of Marching On Together from the supporters. “Sorry, I can’t hear,” he apologised.

“When the front four, five, six play like that, it makes the job of the defenders easier so it’s very nice, you can see what it means.”
