The West Ham United owners could be set to make a very big U-turn on David Moyes over the coming weeks.
David Moyes was brought back to the London Stadium for the second time by the West Ham owners back in December 2019.
The 60-year-old Scot has guided us to three consecutive European campaigns, and led us to our first major trophy since 1980 last season.
David Moyes manager record at West Ham:
251 games
110 wins
52 draws
89 losses
43.8% win rate
However, there are plenty of West Ham fans who do not appreciate the style of play that Moyes implements, and recent reports have claimed that the Hammers board are looking to replace him with the likes of Ipswich Town gaffer Kieran McKenna.
That sounds incredibly harsh on Moyes to me, but the truth of the matter is that he has reached his ceiling in his role as West Ham manager.
It was recently claimed that the Hammers owners we really angry with the Scot after some of his post-match press conferences.
It remains to be seen whether he’ll be moved on before the end of the season if we embark on a bad run of results. However, the general consensus is that West Ham and Moyes will go their separate ways in the summer.
West Ham owners could be just 3 weeks away from David Moyes U-turn
David Sullivan is well known to be a big fan of Moyes, and he has stuck by him numerous times over the past 18 months or so when things were going really badly in the Premier League.
However, that all changed a couple of months ago when the word coming out of the club was that Sullivan had lost patience with the Scot.
However, it appears as though that could all change now, well in three weeks time at least…
ESPN News reporter Michael Bridge told Give Me Sport that Moyes’s future at the London Stadium could hinge on the two-legged Europa League tie with Bayer Leverkusen:
“You see the return of Michail Antonio, and West Ham seem to get the best out of Lucas Paqueta when those players come back. Mohammed Kudus has been a brilliant signing as well. It could be a case of wait and see over the next few weeks and months when it comes to David Moyes’ future, but let’s see how they get on against Bayer Leverkusen. Leverkusen are probably one of the best teams to watch in Europe this season, but if West Ham can get through over those two games, I really do think it puts David Moyes in a very, very strong position.”
In three weeks time, we will know the outcome of the Europa League quarter-final clash.
If we progress through to the semi-finals of the competition, and maintain our place inside the top seven of the Premier League table, it would be very hard to move the Scot on.
The West Ham owners are clearly not ready to pull the trigger on Moyes just yet. It will be an interesting few weeks ahead for the Hammers boss it seems.
