Done Deal: New Bears WR Rome Odunze ‘hating the Packers’ already

No two NFL teams have played each other more than the Chicago Bears and Green Bay Packers. The rivalry dates back to 1921, and there’s plenty of bad blood that goes back generations.

The trash talk between the two teams won’t be ending any time soon either, with new Bears receiver Rome Odunze already throwing shade Green Bay’s way.

“First day hating the Packers, I already can’t stand them,” Odunze said. “Every time I see Green, I nearly puke.”

Odunze, who played college ball for the Washington Huskies, was selected by the Bears with the No. 9 overall pick. Odunze’s selection came after the Bears drafted USC quarterback Caleb Williams with the No. 1 pick. Perhaps Odunze and Williams can start beating the Packers at a much higher clip than their predecessors. The Bears are just 2-18 in their last 20 games against the Packers.

Odunze believes he, Williams, and the Bears offense can have success, be dangerous, and put a lot of points on the board.

“Excited to attack, really,” Odunze said. “It really reminds me of all the key pieces that I had in college and the pieces coming together for the incredible seasons that we had. It really has that same feeling, having so many weapons on offense, bringing in a guy like Caleb at the helm of it all allows us to do so many different things. I’m super excited for the attack mindset that we’ll have on offense, the explosiveness we can bring to any football field. I think it will be special.”

Odunze put up huge numbers at Washington with 92 receptions, 1,640 receiving yards, and 13 receiving touchdowns. While Odunze’s stats surely excite Bears fans, his hate of the Packers will make them love him just as much.

The Bears will aim to make the 2024 campaign a memorable one, including trying to beat the Packers twice for the first time since 2007.
