Dolphins Hire Former Lions Defensive Backs Coach…

The Miami Dolphins have added a former member of the Detroit Lions defensive staff to serve as their secondary coach and pass game coordinator.

According to NFL Network, Brian Duker, who spent three seasons in Motown, will depart and take on a new opportunity for the AFC East powerhouse organization.

Duker originally worked with the safeties, before being assigned to take on a larger role working with the defensive backs as the 2022 season progressed.

According to the team website, “He helped S Kerby Joseph become the NFL’s first rookie since 2005 to produce at least four interceptions, two forced fumbles and one fumble recovery in a season. In 2021, Duker worked on staff as a defensive assistant, working closely with the secondary unit and the team’s defensive passing game strategies.”

Townsend, 48, served as the defensive passing game coordinator and defensive backs coach for the Jacksonville Jaguars the past two seasons.

The veteran defensive coach has also had stints with the Chicago Bears (2019-21), New York Giants (2018), Tennessee Titans (2016-17), and Arizona Cardinals (2011-12).
