Predicted City team v Hull: Ben Wilson; Joel Latibeadiere, Bobby Thomas, Luis Binks, Jay Dasilva; Josh Eccles, Ben Sheaf; Milan van Ewijk, Kasey Palmer, Haji Wright; Ellis Simms.
Coventry City will be hoping to avoid an FA Cup hangover when they get back to Championship business, looking to finish their league season as strongly as possible.
Hull City stand in their way at the CBS Arena where Liam Rosenior’s men will be looking to keep their play-off hopes alive in the hope that Norwich slip up in their remaining fixtures. It looks a tall order for the Sky Blues, meanwhile, who are nine points off sixth spot but that doesn’t mean Mark Robins will expect anything other than his players giving their all in the final four matches.
The young forward was one of five second half subs who impressed the manager with their contribution against Manchester United, after which he hinted that they might just have played their way back into his thoughts for the remaining fixtures.
If that is the case then one of the standout names has to be centre-half Luis Binks who played without fear and with plenty of aggression when he replaced Liam Kitching just after the hour. The loan defender from Bologna, therefore, has to be in with a shout of starting against the Tigers alongside usual first pick defender Bobby Thomas.
Jay Dasilva also caught the eye with his late cameo in place of Jake Bidwell, going on in the 79th minute in a straight swap and playing just over 40 minutes. He should, therefore, have relatively fresher legs. The right-back slot is likely to go to Joel Latibeaudiere, particularly if Tavares is out, which means Milan van Ewijk will be required to play on the right wing.
Josh Eccles is likely to start again in midfield alongside Ben Sheaf unless Liam Kelly – who wasn’t used at all at the weekend – is brought back into the side to provide renewed energy. Victor Torp also impressed when he went on and will be an option along with the returning Jamie Allen, the latter of whom hasn’t played for almost three months and might, therefore, be a late option from the bench.
That leaves top scorers Haji Wright and Ellis Simms who, on 18 and 19 goals respectively, will be desperate to take their tallies to the 20 goal mark, although the sensible option would be to make use of Matty Godden. The only other change could come in goal if the manager feels Brad Collins could do with a mental break.
