Cooper is on the ‘brink’ of being sacked by Forest

News broke yesterday that the Reds had been in talks with Nuno Espírito Santo about becoming their new head coach. Talks were said to be ongoing, and now Portuguese outlet A Bola reports that an agreement could be in the ‘next few days’  having emerged as the desire candidate.

Cooper is on the ‘brink’ of being sacked, and that the change could be imminent. Forest’s next match is against AFC Bournemouth, however owner Marinakis has decided a change is needed.

The 49-year-old has been out of work since his sacking at Al-Ittihad. He led them to the Saudi Pro League title last season but form dipped, and he was relieved of his duties after a reported falling out with Karim Benzema.

Santo was a popular figure at Wolves, and won them the Championship title, as well as leading them into the UEFA Europa League knock-out rounds. He oversaw 199 games during his time with Wolves, winning 95 games, rawing 49 and losing 55 which gave him a win percentage of 47.74%.

It was suggested last month that Julen Lopetegui was being considered for the post, given his desire to return to Premier League management, but Santo seems to have it wrapped up. Talks were held with Lopetegui according to The Guardian and he was on Forest’s radar however talks never progressed.
