Ardon Jashari could be available for just £5 million in January but Celtic could face competition from the Premier League if they choose to renew their interest in the West Ham-linked Switzerland international.
That is according to Corriere dello Sport.
Ardon Jashari, somewhat surprisingly, is still plying his trade at FC Luzern. And, with there being a limit to how much a side of their size can realistically ask for, Jashari looks set to remain available for a fraction of the fee other clubs are demanding for midfielders of similar age and ability.
Ardon Jashari has admirers at Celtic?
Celtic, per Blick, had shown an interest over the summer, alongside Porto and RB Leipzig. Jashari was reportedly valued at around £4.5 million at the time, and his price-tag has barely changed since then.
Despite Villarreal and Europa Conference League champions West Ham throwing their hat into the ring, Luzern are staying consistent to their £5 million valuation, though a bidding war cannot be discounted with so many clubs keen on Die Leuchten’s 21-year-old skipper.
Jashari, captain of Luzern already despite his relative lack of experience, is seen in some quarters as the future of the Swiss national team. He has drawn comparisons with Bayer Leverkusen’s former Arsenal ace Granit Xhaka. His natural-born leadership skills as well as his impressive passing range catching the eye.
Jashari has also been likened to Jude Bellingham by some.
The new Granit Xhaka?
“Jashari has a personality that qualifies him as a leader. You rarely see that at this age,” explains scout Oliver Zesiger.
“Physically, Granit is stronger. (But) both players can move the ball in progression. In addition, the two are good at reading a game and winning the ball back. If things continue, then he’ll definitely end up at a club in one of the top five leagues (in Europe).”
Celtic would perhaps be a sensible next step for Jashari. Though whether the Hoops plan to renew their interest remains to be seen. Much will depend on Matt O’Riley’s future, Reo Hatate’s recovery, or whether the Hoops plan to turn Paulo Bernardo’s loan into a permanent transfer.
