Bruins Dominate in Final Cayman Island Classic

Nate Oats on offensive production outside of Mark Sears and Aaron Estrada Maven – Alabama Crimson Tide Just a day after taking down the UConn Huskies, the UCLA women’s basketball team finished their time in the Cayman Islands with a dominating win over Niagara in the Cayman Islands Classic.

The final score was 97-46, and the Bruins looked the part of being one of the top teams in the country. The Bruins are currently the second-ranked team in the nation, and they extended their winning streak to six games to open the season. They have steamrolled through their games for the most part, and it’s been great to see for this program.

Head coach Cori Close gave her thoughts on the game but knows that they still have some work to do going forward. “A lot of learning moments,” said coach Cori Close. “I’m very thankful that we came out of this very high level field 2-0, but so much room to grow.

Close spoke about how their early start really helped propel them to such a dominant win. “It puts us in the driver’s seat, it puts a lot more pressure on our opponents,” Close said. “What I’m really proud of is, I think it shows their mental and emotional ability to prepare, and they’ve been really good, and now the next championship habit is sustaining.
