The 34-year-old, who was hired from Brighton despite only being with the Seagulls for 16 months, was eager to take up a new challenge and he will now form part of the Blues’ recruitment team for their multi-club model.
Effectively, Jewell will form part of the club’s global scouting network and will look to spot up and coming talents to sign for both Chelsea and Strasbourg – the two clubs owned by ‘BlueCo’ and American owner, Todd Boehly.
