Michael Olise’s staggandering salary revealed as Crystal Palace star snubs Chelsea closes in on Bayern move
Chelsea are set to miss out on Crystal Palace forward Michael Olise for the second summer running after the player decided he would join Bayern Munich. The 22-year-old has been a top target for the Blues, but his wage demands and preference led Chelsea to walk away from the deal before Bayern Munich took over, as reported by The Athletic.
Several European clubs, including Manchester City and Real Madrid, were also monitoring the former Eagles forward, with Crystal Palace offering to renew his contract and increase his salary to try and keep him for another summer. Last season, Olise scored 10 goals and made six assists, despite injuries restricting him to 19 games. His talent has been evident, attracting interest from Europe’s top clubs.
Bayern are now expected to trigger his release clause of a reported £65 million, which was inserted when he signed a £100k-a-week contract last summer after Chelsea triggered a £35 million release clause before he decided against the move.
Last season, Bayern failed to win the Bundesliga and lost to Real Madrid in the Champions League, leading to manager Thomas Tuchel being replaced by the exciting Vincent Kompany.
