Liam Manning has revealed he spoke with Bristol City’s Scott Twine about the midfielder’s special day against Plymouth Argyle for MK Dons ahead of the Robins’ match at Home Park this afternoon.
Twine netted four goals in an emphatic 5-0 for the Dons under Manning’s charge back in April 2022, which ended Argyle’s League One play-off hopes.
The pair have since linked up at Bristol City, who travel to face Plymouth in the Championship this afternoon.
“It was a couple of years ago, we did actually speak about it as we were getting on the bus yesterday,” Manning told BBC Radio Bristol.
“It could’ve been more that day as well for him to be fair, if he can replicate anything near that then I’ll be delighted.”
He made just his second start for City in Friday’s 1-0 win against Leicester City and will begin once more against Ian Foster’s side.
While the Pilgrims sit in 20th place in the Championship table, just two points above the relegation zone, the City boss admitted it will be no easy task.
“I’m expecting a tough game, when you look at it it’s their first season back in the Championship for a few years, they’ve transitioned well,” he said.
“Looking at their team it’s going to be a difficult game against another team who are very well coached and organised, at this place as well it’s always a difficult game. As always it’s about us and making sure we reach the level we’re capable of.”
