Mark Robins is keeping his fingers crossed that Victor Torp isn’t out for too long after suffering a muscle injury in Coventry City’s 2-1 win at Watford.
The Sky Blues midfielder went off in the 58th minute when he was replaced by Ben Sheaf who made a welcome return after six weeks out with a hamstring tear.
“Torpy has pulled something in his glute, so I hope that he is okay but I don’t know yet,” said Robins, speaking after the victory at Vicarage Road, after which his opposite number Valerien Ismael was sacked.
“But he needs a breather again, so the fact that Ben is back gives us more, and the fact that Kels (Liam Kelly) played half a game means he’s fresh. I think at this stage of the season people look leggy.
“It was brilliant to have Ben Sheaf on the bench to come on and do what he did and if we didn’t have him available, so thankfully him and the medical team have worked hard to get to this point.”
He added: “There are a lot of injuries to squads up and down the country and you find yourselves in positions where you can be on the back foot and not have as much energy as you previously had. The league is so much better this season in terms of the quality of the teams and your levels have to be higher to get anything from games, so that has an impact at times.”
Meanwhile, Robins is hoping to get Jamie Allen back over the international break, which begins after next weekend’s FA Cup quarter-final at Premier League Wolves.
