Ben Sheaf is aiming to get results back on track Friday night

Ben Sheaf is aiming to get results back on track Friday night, when the Sky Blues entertain Birmingham City.

The midfielder captained the Sky Blues last time out against Ipswich Town, a game which they fell to a first defeat in four.

Coming into a Midlands derby this weekend, Sheaf is hoping a good week of training and the support of the Sky Blue Army can spur on City come kick-off.

“I’m really looking forward to it and so are the boys, they’re always looking forward to it. Friday night game on Sky it’s exciting and it’s a derby.

“We’re all looking forward to it like I say and we’re looking to put in a good performance and get back on track.

“They’re in a bit of a tough spot at the moment, so you could think their confidence will be a bit lower, if so, we’ll be looking to capitalise on that.

“Our form at home has been good this year, so we’ll be looking to use that to our advantage as well and we’re confident going into the game.”

The Sky Blue Army against Birmingham…

“The crowd play they’re part in these games and they’ve been brilliant so far this season getting right behind us and I hope they can do the same again on Friday night.”

How he feels this season so far…

“I feel like my games continually getting better and better and I feel like I’m improving. Obviously, I had a small setback with my injury, but since then I feel like I’ve come back in and done pretty well.

“I’m enjoying my football, and just trying to keep improving.”

Looking to score more after his goal against Millwall…

“Probably not really well known for goals, but yeah, I got a tap in, in the six-yard box against Millwall.

“I’ve been working on my shooting, and I’ve not scored one from distance yet this season, but I’m sure it will happen at some point.

“I’ve got the technical ability to do it. It’s just being able to execute that on a on a match day. I won’t stop doing trying and I will try to chip in with some goals.”

New signings settling in…

“The boys have come in and they’re great lads and they’ve settled in quickly to the dressing room and we’re already getting on.

“It’s obviously taken a bit of time to get things going on the pitch, but I think the signs there that we’re going in the right direction, and I think we’re only going to get better.”

Building up to the game…

“Training has been really good. We’ve got pretty much everyone back now.

“The standard’s been good in training and we know we’ve got a strong squad and the longer we’re going to be together, the better we’re going to get and I think you saw that over the past three seasons, when you get a bit of consistency in your squad, things are going to get better.”
