Before the Wizards game, the Boston Celtics make a roster move.

On Friday evening, the Boston Celtics  will host Jordan Poole and the Washington Wizards in Massachusetts.    Before the game (on Thursday), the team announced that they had made a roster move by assigning rookie Jordan Walsh to the Maine Celtics (G League).

Walsh was the 38th pick in the 2023 NBA Draft out of Arkansas and has spent a lot of time going back and forth between Boston and Maine.

He has appeared in three games for the Celtics and made his NBA debut on January 17 against the San Antonio Spurs.

Walsh, who is only 19 years old, has played well in the G League and has averages of 15.9 points, 7.9 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 1.0 steals per contest while shooting 42.6% from the field and 36.0% from the three-point range in 14 regular season games.

The Maine Celtics will host the Motor City Cruise on Thursday and Saturday, so it’s unclear if Walsh will return to Boston for Friday’s game with the Wizards.

Right now, the Celtics are the best team in the NBA and have a 39-12 record in 41 games, which has them as the first seed in the Eastern Conference.

They are in the middle of a two-game winning streak and are 7-3 over their last ten games.

Following the Wizards, the Celtics remain in Boston to host Jimmy Butler and the Miami Heat on Sunday afternoon.

At home, they have gone 24-3 in 27 games.
