AHL: Providence Bruins’ DiPietro is dazzling

A few years ago, the Boston Bruins took a prospect struggling to blossom and traded him to the Vancouver Canucks ; in return, the Bruins received Michael DiPietro. Looking back on the Studnicka for DiPietro swap, things are working out quite well for the Bruins.

DiPietro spent the majority of last season in the ECHL with the Maine Mariners and has now jumped over Kyle Keyser on the organizational depth chart to win a role with the AHL Providence Bruins. If you look at his performance, it looks like he has no plan of looking back. DiPietro is currently 4th in SV% with a .924SV% and 7th in Goals Against Average with a 2.28GAA

After the season, DiPietro will be a Restricted Free Agent with arbitration rights. There is no doubt that his progression is leading toward him getting the chance to crack an NHL lineup with a plethora of teams looking to make some changes to their goaltending depth. It’s not out of the question to see another NHL organization desire DiPietro.
