Ange Postecoglou could reportedly be of interest to Manchester City as a potential replacement for Pep Guardiola.
After a successful spell in charge of Celtic, the 58-year-old was appointed as Tottenham Hotspur manager back in June.
Despite only becoming Spurs’ manager fairly recently, some behind-the-scenes details have emerged regarding a potential future job opportunity for him.
It said: “Ange Postecoglou is already rated as a dark horse to top Manchester City’s list of potential successors to Pep Guardiola should the Spaniard decide to leave his post at the end of his current contract in the summer of 2025.”
The report also adds that the Australian “could be best positioned for City to target next summer if Guardiola does not extend his deal, not that it is at all certain they would be able to take him from Spurs.”
After spending some time in charge of Yokohama F. Marinos, Postecoglou won five titles in two years at Celtic, winning 83 of the 113 games he had while at the Scottish club.
Since becoming Spurs’ manager, Postecoglou has overlooked 23 games across all competitions prior to tonight’s FA Cup clash against City, winning 13, drawing four and losing six.
While we feel the club’s main objective should be to keep hold of Guardiola for as long as they can, if the 53-year-old does decide to end his tenure at City in 2025, Postecoglou should remain on their replacement list if he has a successful season with Spurs.
One way of doing that would be by guiding the north London club to some silverware and getting them into Europe for next season, which may make it even more difficult for the Citizens to potentially secure his signature.
