Luis Palma is a player that was in demand this summer before he joined Celtic.
The 23-year-old was wanted by Rangers at one point and Spanish Second Division side Levante. Two years ago, the £3.5m signing from Aris was also being hawked around Europe for just over £200k as he desperately tried to get his move to the continent.
So when Celtic came calling this summer, there was only one club that Palma wanted to go to. But a report has surfaced claiming that the Honduran was subject to a last-minute offer before Palma put pen to paper at Celtic.
Honduran media outlet, Deportes TVC says that Saudi Arabian side Al-Taawoun tried to ‘tempt’ Palma with a bigger contract but the 23-year-old’s stance was firm.
The report says, “When he was part of Aris in the Greek first division, an offer came from the Al-Taawoun club in the first division of Saudi Arabia, according to Deportes TVC in communication with the player’s agent.
“However, Luis Palma was clear about what he wanted and his desire was always to stay in Europe, which is why he decided to sign for Celtic even though his salary was lower compared to what was offered by the Arab club.”

The youngster is now flying in Glasgow. Despite a slow start, Palma really found his feet in the Champions League defeat to Feyenoord and since that game, he has gone from strength to strength.
Tipped for a big move by Honduras’ international teammate, Andy Najar, Palma is already making headlines after his big performances against Atletico Madrid and Aberdeen this season.
Palma impressed in his early days at Celtic and there is no doubt that if he continues to progress at the rate he is going, he will be next in line for a big-money move to Europe or England.
