Olise to earn N21.5b per year at Bayern as Chelsea and Man City miss out on re-signing former player

Anglo-French-Nigerian-Algerian winger Michael Olise is on the brink of ending his three-year association with Crystal Palace.

The Athletic UK’s transfer guru David Ornstein reported on Friday that the 2021 Super Eagles invitee has decided to move to German record champions Bayern Munich and a transfer is close to being completed.

Chelsea were touted to be frontrunners for the signature of the France U21 international but have withdrawn from the race to sign the exciting winger.

Olise spent seven years at Chelsea before he was released and subsequently joined Manchester City’s academy, from where he moved to Reading.

Chelsea have decided to place more trust in their current players, but they are still expected to sign two attackers during this transfer window.

The Crystal Palace number 7 is in high demand after his impressive performances over the course of the 2023-2024 season, with Manchester United, Manchester City and Newcastle United also interested in his services.

According to Christian Falk, Head of Football Sport Bild, Olise is set to receive a substantial wage increase after opting to join Bayern Munich.

The quad-national player is expected to be paid £220,000 weekly wages, equating to £11,440,000 per annum (approximately N21.5 billion in Nigerian currency).

Olise signed a new deal with Palace last summer with a release clause of £55 million, which allows him to leave Selhurst Park in this transfer window if the clause is activated.
