“16 stay, 12 must leave” Palace made a solid decision over selling players

This summer it’s the real beginning of the Oliver Glasner era, who should Crystal Palace sell and who should be kept?

Oliver Glasner is in the door at Selhurst Park, and he’ll be desperate to see improvements in his side, this will likely mean the sacrifice of several current stars.

Dougie Freedman is set for a busy summer as he’ll be tasked with handing the Austrian boss a squad he is happy with.

So with that in mind, here we will decide whether to keep or sell every single player in Crystal Palace’s first-team squad.

Sam Johnstone – Sell

Sam Johnstone is turning 31 on Monday and with a substantial transfer value, Palace could look to upgrade on him this summer as there could be a lot of interest.

Dean Henderson – Keep

“At quite an advanced stage”: Crystal Palace likely to sign Tottenham target for free this summer – journalist

5 players Crystal Palace could sign for free this summer, including star who won the Europa League with Glasner – opinion

His Palace career hasn’t gotten off to the best start, but ultimately he was signed for £20m and deserves a second season to try and make it work.

Joe Whitworth – Keep

Joe Whitworth should be fairly certain to stay at the club as the second or third-choice goalkeeper, there’s little issue with this.

Remi Matthews – Sell

With a contract expiring in June, there seems little point in extending Remi Matthew’s contract when Whitworth could do the job.

Marc Guehi – Sell

For as good as Marc Guehi is, this summer could see offers arrive that are simply too good to refuse. Receiving a large fee would make rebuilding this summer a whole lot easier.

Joachim Andersen – Keep

Joachim Andersen is Palace’s other star defender and it’s likely interest will also arrive for him. That being said, if Guehi is going, keeping Andersen will become all the more important.

Chris Richards – Keep

Chris Richards has been very good this season and finally looks to be realising the potential, absolutely keep.

Rob Holding – Sell

Signed last summer but it’d be easy to forget he was at the club, Rob Holding has made one appearance and should be sold this summer.

Nathan Ferguson – Sell

Not really a sale as his contract is expiring this summer, but due to injuries, it’s unlikely he’ll see his contract extended.

James Tomkins – Sell

In the same bracket as Matthews and Ferguson, we find it more than unlikely that James Tomkins will get an extended contract before his contract expires this summer

Tyrick Mitchell – Keep

Petty self-explanatory, the club’s only real left-back option Tyrick Mitchell stays this summer.

Daniel Munoz – Keep

Daniel Munoz was only signed in January and has been impressive thus far since his arrival, no chance he will go this summer.

Nathaniel Clyne – Sell

Another player whose contract will expire in June and there’s little prospect of Nathaniel Clyne staying at the club beyond this season.

Joel Ward – Keep

It may be surprising but hear us out, Joel Ward gets a new contract and stays. With several experienced heads set to leave, keeping the captain for another year could be a wise move.

Cheick Doucoure – Keep

Cheick Doucoure has missed most of this season through injury which might just put any interested teams off making a move this summer, so he stays at Selhurst Park.

Jefferson Lerma – Keep

One of Oliver Glasner’s best players since his arrival, Jefferson Lerma definitely stays this summer and will likely partner Doucoure.

Jairo Riedewald – Sell

Another player with an expiring contract, Jairo Riedewald also stands little chance of earning a new contract before his expiry date.

Adam Wharton – Keep

Adam Wharton is the future of Palace’s midfield and there’s no chance he leaves this summer, just months after joining for £22m.

Will Hughes – Sell

As seems to be the case with a lot of Palace players this summer, Will Hughes will also be out of contract and it’s hard to see Glasner wanting him to remain.

Naouirou Ahamada – Keep

Naouirou Ahamada is an interesting one, with the midfielder needing minutes and game time to develop, but it seems very unlikely he will be sold this summer, keep.

Jeffrey Schlupp – Sell

Yet another player with a contract expiring, Jeffrey Schlupp also looks unlikely to get an extension before June 30th.

Eberechi Eze – Keep

While this may be tricky to do, Palace can’t let all three prized jewels depart this summer and Eberechi Eze would be our pick to keep.

Matheus Franca – Keep

Palace’s Brazilian wonderkid Matheus Franca will absolutely not be sold this summer, although a loan could occur.

Michael Olise – Sell

In an ideal world, Michael Olise stays. But it is unlikely to work out that way with a release clause making a sale easy. As Palace are linked with several replacements, it seems an inevitability that Olise goes, but we’d love to be proved wrong.

Jesurun Rak-Sakyi – Keep

It’s been an injury-plagued season for Jesurun Rak-Sakyi, but there’s a reason many were excited to see him this season and he’ll hopefully show it next season instead.

Odsonne Edouard – Sell

Odsonne Edouard is clearly not Glasner’s ideal striker, and it seems likely that his time at the club will come to an end this summer, he’s even hinted at an exit this season.

Jean Philippe Mateta – Keep

Picked regularly since Glasner’s arrival and scoring two in three, Jean-Philippe Mateta has proven himself worth keeping next season, turning it around since his near-exit in January.

Jordan Ayew – Keep

One of this season’s best players, Jordan Ayew should absolutely stay next season, and maybe even beyond his current 2025 expiring deal.
