Will The Vikings’ Jaren Hall Be The Latest Mediocre Quarterback To Light Up The Green Bay Packers?
Tommy Devito was a player no one in the NFL felt was draft worthy back in April. Then the New York Giants’ undrafted rookie quarterback lit the Green Bay Packers up three weeks ago and earned NFC Offensive Player of the Week honors.
Tampa Bay journeyman Baker Mayfield won the same honor one week later when he posted the first-ever perfect passer rating (158.3) by a visiting quarterback at Lambeau Field.
Then last week, Carolina’s Bryce Young — struggling through a rough rookie year — set career-highs for passing yards and passer rating against the Packers’ dismal defense.
Minnesota announced Thursday that Hall, a rookie fifth round draft pick, will be its starting quarterback when the Packers and Vikings meet in a must-win game Sunday night between a pair of 7-8 teams.
And the way Green Bay’s dreadful defense has performed in recent weeks, Hall could be the next mediocre quarterback to light the Packers up.
“I feel like he has been doing a great job in learning and just the process of being a rookie and carrying that role,” Minnesota star receiver Justin Jefferson said of Hall. “I feel like Jaren is definitely a great quarterback. He has definitely some potential to spark this offense up if we put him out there to play.”

Every quarterback the Packers have played, of late, has had a field day against Joe Barry’s underachieving defense. Green Bay’s challenge is to make sure Hall isn’t next in line.
The 6-foot, 207-pound Hall is undersized and lacks the arm strength to drive the ball into tight windows. His accuracy and ball placement are top notch, though, and he has the ability to hurt teams with his legs, as well.
