According to Football Insider, there is a tough competition between Arsenal and Tottenham to acquire £40 million striker Santiago Gimenez of Feyenoord.

Arsenal and Tottenham are in a furious race to acquire Feyenoord striker Santiago Gimenez, according to Football Insider.

The four London giants are expected to square off over a contract to sign Gimenez in the upcoming months, with the source claiming that West Ham and Fulham are also considering a move for the 22-year-old striker.

It goes without saying that in order to compete with teams like Manchester City and Liverpool, Arsenal will need to bolster their attacking lineup and add a consistent goal scorer

Gabriel Jesus, an attacking player for Arsenal, has only scored three goals in the league this season due to his inconsistent goal-scoring ability. The Gunners therefore require an alternative solution up front.

The 22-year-old Mexican looks to be Arsenal’s objective to help them with their goal scoring problems, but according to Football Insider, a possible deal may cost up to £40 million.

The Mexican forward helped Feyenoord win the league title the previous year and has scored 20 goals in all competitions this season. With the correct coaching, the striker has the ability to become a world-class player and has what it takes to be successful in the Premier League.

Goalscorer

Gimenez is likely to be attracted to the idea of playing for Arsenal and a move to the Emirates Stadium would be a major step up. However, it remains to be seen whether the Gunners can get a deal done. Arteta ideally needs a striker this month to boost their title push but Feyenoord would prefer to cash in at the end of the season.

Meanwhile, Tottenham need a quality long-term replacement for Harry Kane and the Mexican striker certainly fits the profile. He could share the goalscoring burden with Son Heung-min if he joins the North London club in the coming months.

He is a vital player for Feyenoord, and they would not want to lose him halfway through the season. It will be difficult for them to replace Gimenez with a worthy candidate this month. Any transfer will therefore need to wait until the summer transfer window.

Arsenal has more than enough money to sign the striker before teams like Fulham, West Ham, and Tottenham. For a player with his potential, the stated asking price seems fair, and Gimenez might more than pay for the investment in the upcoming campaigns.
