The Saints are expected to add more help on the offensive line. Here’s who they’re signing.

The New Orleans Saints are expected to sign former Chicago Bears offensive lineman Lucas Patrick to a one-year contract Monday, according to his agents Justin and Joel Turner.

The move adds depth along the offensive line, a position that has seen an overhaul for the Saints this offseason. New Orleans could see as many as three new starters up front with left tackle Andrus Peat departing in free agency, guard James Hurst retiring and right tackle Ryan Ramczyk battling a chronic knee injury that could prevent him from playing football again.

The Saints have used a lot of resources this spring to address the trenches. New Orleans drafted tackle Taliese Fuaga with the 14th overall pick last month and also took another tackle in the seventh round by grabbing Eastern Kentucky’s Josiah Ezirim. In free agency, the Saints have signed Oli Udoh, Shane Lemieux and Justin Herron to compete for a mix of spots.

Patrick, 30, started 15 of his 16 games last season for the Bears. He spent two seasons in Chicago after signing a two-year, $8 million contract in 2022. Before then, the 6-foot-3, 316-pound lineman entered the league as an undrafted free agent and spent five seasons with the Green Bay Packers.

He has been primarily a full-time starter since 2020, starting 48 of 56 games. He was limited to just seven games in 2022 because of a toe injury that cost him the final 10 contests. Patrick has played all three spots on the interior, but most of his snaps last season were taken as a center. He alternated between left guard and right guard in 2022.

Erik McCoy started all 17 games at center for the Saints last season.
