Everton transfer update emerges on ex Liverpool and Barcelona midfielder Arthur Melo
The news outlet reported on 30 May that despite claims of the Toffees eyeing the Brazil international, who spent a season on loan at rivals Liverpool, he is not being considered on the blue half of Merseyside.
Everton must avoid signing Arthur despite Lionel Messi endorsement
Lionel Messi has spoken very highly of Arthur and even compared him to Xavi back in 2018.
“Those who came are very good”, Messi told Tot Costa, via Sport , in 2018. “Arthur I didn’t know that much about but he seems similar to Xavi. He’s very safe and trustworthy. He has the La Masia style.
“Playing short passes, without losing the ball, and he grasped it quickly, the dynamic of the team.” The Toffees should avoid signing Arthur despite his past endorsements from Messi. While Arthur has shown technical prowess, his injury-prone history, particularly during his time at Liverpool, raises concerns about his physical durability.
Everton Sean Dyche’s tactical approach requires physically robust midfielders who can consistently perform in a high-intensity environment.
Arthur’s past struggles with fitness may not align with Dyche’s demands, suggesting he might not be the right fit for the Toffees. Hopefully, they sign a box-to-box midfielder who can make late runs into the penalty area and can pose a goal threat as well.
