Everton defender Vitalii Mykolenko may miss Euro 2024 amid fresh injury fears
Everton defender Vitalii Mykolenko could miss Euro 2024 if he suffers a re-injury on his ankle, according to Dr Rajpal Brar.
The injury expert claims that there is a grey area opting for the method of treatment for the Ukrainian which saw him avoiding surgery.
There were initial fears that he would need to be operated, but in order to be available in June, that was not the course of action.
Speaking exclusively to Goodison News, Brar, a specialist in Physical Therapy and Sports Scientist, said about Mykolenko:
“It doesn’t necessarily mean that there is zero risk attached as they did opt to not have surgery.
“There’s significant grey area when it comes to deciding on the plan of care in this situation so there is a chance of re-injury that could see him miss the EUROs.
“The key will really be how he responds to rehab and how stable that ankle is.

Mykolenko’s domestic season had to be cut short due to the injury and the last thing he would want is for him not to be able to represent his country.
Given everything that’s going on in Ukraine over the last few years, it would be an even harder pill to swallow for the left-back.
