Everton: Dean Saunders drops fresh relegation verdict amid second points deduction at Goodison
Dean Saunders believes that Everton only need two more wins to avoid Premier League relegation unless the Premier League hands out a second points deduction.
The Toffees have already seen six points taken away from them this season, being punished for a PSR breach, and could be set to learn the result of a second hearing on Friday 5 April.
Sean Dyche has done his absolute best to keep the club afloat, with four points separating them from Luton Town in the relegation zone.
Speaking live via talkSPORT on Friday (5 April, 6:55am), Saunders said: “I like Sean Dyche. I think he’s never been given a good job, ever. Has he ever walked into a good job?
“He’s fighting a battle without a striker, he is. If you keep missing chances… They have made loads and loads of chances and it’s grinding them down. [Dominic] Calvert-Lewin – 23 games without a goal. I’m glad he scored the other day. Hopefully, he’ll get more.
“They need two more wins, for me. If you win 10 games… Unless they get another points deduction.”
Will Everton survive the Premier League relegation battle?
With just eight matches of the Premier League campaign remaining, the relegation battle is set to come right down to the wire.
Most fans believe that Sheffield United and Burnley have no chance of emerging out of the bottom three, leaving just one spot between Luton, Nottingham Forest, Everton, Brentford, and even Crystal Palace.
With matches against the four teams below them still to play, and a clash with Brentford too, Dyche’s team will certainly have the chance to earn two victories before the season finishes.
However, the threat of a second points deduction is casting yet another shadow over Goodison Park, which could affect some of the performances on the pitch.
