Amadou Onana to leave Goodison Park this summer as Michael Ball drops Everton verdict

Michael Ball has tipped Amadou Onana to leave Everton this summer as he doesn’t fit Sean Dyche’s style of football.

The Belgium midfielder has been linked with an exit during the upcoming transfer window with Bayern Munich, Barcelona and Manchester United all linked with a move.

The Toffees have openly admitted they need to sell, with a major sale expected before June 30, and when writing in his Liverpool Echo column (21 May) Ball admitted that he feels an exit will take place because the player “goes missing” too much in games in the Premier League.

“Amadou Onana has got talent and a fantastic career ahead of him but I just feel that our style of play, Dyche’s style and what we as a fanbase want from players, I don’t think he ticks all the boxes,” he said.

“He shows his ability at times and can run the game for 10 or 15 minutes but I think the Premier League just doesn’t suit him so I wouldn’t be surprised if he went back to Europe somewhere.

“You can’t just have hard workers though, you need someone with a bit of talent and he’s got the ability to do something special but has he shown it enough in a royal blue jersey? I don’t think so, I think he floats in and out of games too much.

“Where we are as a football club right now, we can’t afford to have players go missing so I wouldn’t be surprised to see Onana moving on in the summer.”

It seems almost inevitable that at least one star will leave this summer, and Onana must be one of the top candidates to move on.

Jarrad Branthwaite is another but he is a huge regular in the starting lineup and Dyche would be hate to lose him, while the same could be said for Jordan Pickford and Dominic Calvert-Lewin too.

But with Onana, he has often found himself out of the team when the team are going through a tough patch and he isn’t anywhere near being an undisputed member of the lineup.

With his profile and age he is no doubt going to make waves in his career, and he has the quality to move to another club to shine, but at Goodison Park while Dyche is there it seems like it’s unlikely they will ever see him at his best due to a clash of styles.

That makes a summer exit far more pallatable for fans, especially if it helps them out of a financial hole an means they can keep other stars.
