Watch: Yankees slugger Aaron Judge hammers 10th homer of 2024

New York Yankees center fielder Aaron Judge is recapturing the form that helped him win the 2022 American League MVP.

With the Yankees up 4-0 in the top of the fifth inning against Tampa Bay, Rays pitcher Tyler Alexander tossed an 86 mph fastball which Judge blasted for a two-run, 374-foot dinger. Entering the game, the 32-year-old had nine home runs, tied for ninth in baseball.

Judge struggled in April, posting a .220 batting average, .361 on-base percentage and .811 OPS. In May, the five-time All-Star has logged a .303 batting average, .439 on-base percentage and 1.136 OPS.

Yankees left fielder Juan Soto believes Judge is starting to regain his concentration at the plate, allowing him to snap his slump.

“Judge has been locked in the last couple days,” Soto recently told the New York Post’s Greg Joyce. “Really excited for that. I can’t wait to see him going crazy like today. It’s going to be great.”

If Judge stays in the zone for the rest of the season, that would be the best-case scenario for the Yankees. He, Soto and designated hitter Giancarlo Stanton form one of the most powerful lineups in baseball.
