Should the Steelers trade for Bears QB Justin Fields?
The Chicago Bears could look to trade Justin Fields this offseason. Could the Pittsburgh Steelers be his landing spot?
The Pittsburgh Steelers have a lot of uncertainty at the quarterback position.
While Kenny Pickett is the leader in the quarterback room and could very well be the Week 1 starter for the 2024 season, the Steelers may have a chance to make an upgrade.
That upgrade could come in the form of Chicago Bears quarterback Justin Fields.
Yahoo! Sports writer Charles McDonald listed the Steelers as a potential landing spot for Fields if the Bears chose to move on.
The Steelers need to get serious at quarterback one of these days. Grabbing Justin Fields would go a long way toward legitimizing their offensive approach instead of running it back with the same retreads at QB. Kenny Pickett, Mitch Trubisky and Mason Rudolph are not the answer to any questions Mike Tomlin might have about his offense. Go get a dynamic playmaker to finally add something real to the quarterback room.
Fields has played well in his third NFL season, throwing for 2,146 yards and 15 touchdowns in 11 games this year. Despite his decent numbers, the Bears are still not close to making the playoffs.
Barring any unforeseen circumstances, the Bears will be in possession of the No. 1 overall pick for the second year in a row as a result of the team’s trade with the Carolina Panthers last year for quarterback Bryce Young.
While the Bears could simply trade the pick again, they could select USC quarterback Caleb Williams, who appears to be the league’s top prospect by a wide margin. The Bears will likely shop both the pick and Fields to see which wields more value. Chicago will likely have another top-10 pick to work with, but the team could grab even more assets with its current position.
Dolphins- Cowboys’ 1993 Thanksgiving deserves a rewind
It’s November 25th, 1993. Were at Texas Stadium for a Thanksgiving day showdown between the hometown Dallas Cowboys and the visiting Miami Dolphins. Dallas controls the game with a one-point lead but Miami’s lining up for a field goal in the final seconds. A booming kick could give the Dolphins a chance to gobble up a statement win against the defending Super Bowl Champions. Before we witness what comes next, there’s so much to unpack. To do that, we need to rewind
The Steelers could trade a couple future picks for Fields, which would effectively end the Pickett era. It may be too soon to strip the starting job from him, but Fields has proven to be better than Pickett at this point in time.
Is it worth making the trade and scrapping the current plans for the offense? That’s for the front office to figure out.
