‘Just a tussle’ – Audio from VAR decisions that enraged Nottingham Forest released

Nottingham Forest have posted an outrageous official tweet after losing 2-0 at fellow Premier League relegation rivals Everton on Sunday.

Forest slammed ‘three extremely poor decisions’ and have sensationally called out VAR official Stuart Attwell for being a Luton Town supporter.

Pundits have already hit back at Forest for their unprofessionalism, with Jamie Carragher saying their statement reminded him of ‘a fan in a pub’.

The Football Association (FA) has launched an investigation into the controversial social media post after Forest questioned the integrity of the game.

Defeat at Goodison Park this weekend means Forest are 17th in the Premier League table – just one point above Luton – who are in the relegation zone, with both sides having just four fixtures left.

‘Three extremely poor decisions – three penalties not given – which we simply cannot accept,’ Forest tweeted on their official X account after the game.

‘We warned the PGMOL that the VAR is a Luton fan before the game but they didn’t change him. Our patience has been tested multiple times. NFFC will now consider its options.’

Carragher, responding to Forest’s post on X, told Sky Sports: ‘It tells you where we are in the Premier League right now.

‘Stuart Atwell and Anthony Taylor have had a horrific day today. Awful. And they should be rightly criticised for that and that could have real implications for Forest, I get that frustration.

‘But that on social media, that is like a fan in the pub. That is embarrassing from Nottingham Forest.

‘I get the frustration. That rubbish about the VAR is a Luton fan, you can’t get involved in that.

‘You have to show a bit of class. The officials have had a terrible day but you can’t get involved in that, it is nonsense.’

Forest, who were hit with a points deduction earlier this season for breaking profit and sustainability rules, had several penalty appeals turned down on Sunday.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s side wanted three penalties for several alleged fouls from Everton star Ashley Young.

Young was accused of kicking Giovanni Reyna, committing a handball in the box and fouling Callum Hudson-Odoi but Forest were not given a single spot kick.

Forest were largely on top in the game – with 0.85 expected goals (xG) compared to Everton’s 0.42 – and they had 59 per cent possession but left Goodison Park with no points in a blow to their hopes of avoiding relegation.
