Caleb Williams’ comments on Keenan Allen trade confirm the worst-kept NFL Draft secret

The likely no. 1 pick didn’t mince words when talking about could-be Keenan Allen

On Wednesday, all eyes were on the guy most believe will wind up going no. 1 overall in the 2024 NFL Draft. The Chicago Bears were well-represented at Caleb Williams’ pro day, and it was the story of the league.

Williams, of course, did not work out or throw at the NFL Combine this year. Instead, he opted to wait until his pro day to show off his skills.

As many have pointed out, too, his pro day and any workout he would have completed during his pre-draft process won’t matter all that much. We can make a big deal out of it, but he has the film to prove he’s going to be the top player selected in this year’s draft.

Along with general manager Ryan Poles, head coach Matt Eberflus, among others present from Halas Hall, was newly-acquired wide receiver Keenan Allen. Williams was asked about the Bears’ recent trade for the former Chargers wideout.

It seems Caleb Williams already knows his future is as a member of the Chicago Bears

“He’s here.”

What a not-so-subtle way for Williams to acknowledge he’s about to be drafted by the Bears with the first overall pick.

Claiming Allen is “here,” as in Williams is already a member of the Bears, is one way to go about speaking on that topic. There was no beating around the bush for Williams, who is still over a month out from hearing his name called on stage at the 2024 NFL Draft.

Of course, there’s the California connection between the two of them, with Williams having played the last two years at USC and Allen spending all of his 11 NFL seasons with the Chargers. The fact these two already have a relationship is yet another positive for the Bears and their immediate future.

Allen joins a fellow Pro Bowl talent in D.J. Moore, along with an ascending tight end in Cole Kmet and a back field featuring newly-signed D’Andre Swift. The weapons will be there and waiting for Williams once he arrives with the Bears. For right now, Bears fans can just sit back, relax and wait, knowing that the hard, long wait is almost over. The Caleb Willams era is about to begin, folks.
