Everton land £130m payment and it’s going straight to the players – Kieran Maguire

The £133million payment of Premier League prize money “cannot come soon enough” for Everton this summer.

That is the view of finance expert Kieran Maguire, who exclusively told Football Insider that the payout will allow the Merseyside club to cover their wage bill and short-term operating costs. As revealed by Football Insider, Everton are set to be paid £133million in Premier League prize money this summer after their 2023-24 campaign.

Everton need £133m prize money to pay May wage bill

The final payment from the Premier League to Everton for the 23-24 season cannot come fast enough,” Maguire told Football Insider’s Sean Fisher.

The club’s improvement under Sean Dyche will have contributed as well because every additional place is worth £3.4 million this season.

The club needs short-term working capital to pay the May wage bill, which will be going out in a few days but also June and July so that money from the Premier League will be very important.

The transfer window opens on the 14th of June, which may give the club a bit more flexibility as well.

There is no doubt that the club has been poorly governed under Moshiri, but this payment has allayed some of the broader fears about their short-term finances.
