The Kansas City Chiefs did what many analysts thought they couldn’t do by winning back-to-back Super Bowls.

This team went from having an offensive philosophy to relying on their defense to get the job done.

Of course, that only made star DT Chris Jones all the more important, which is why most fans and analysts believe they cannot afford to let him walk away in free agency.

However, Jeff Darlington doesn’t seem to agree.

Talking on ESPN’s Get Up, he made a case for the Chiefs to prioritize WR Mike Evans over Jones, assuming they have to choose because of the salary cap.

“I would rather Mike Evans in this offense than Chris Jones on this defense,” Darlington said.He explained that this team has proven that they can flip-flop between being an offensive or defensive team, but that doesn’t mean they should fall into the trap of thinking they can always win Super Bowls despite not having enough talent at the skill positions.

Darlington believes the Chiefs need to put more weapons around Patrick Mahomes.

Of course, landing Mike Evans would do wonders for this offense, especially considering Mahomes has already won two Super Bowls without Tyreek Hill.

Even so, we’re talking about one of the best defensive players in the game, and this championship-caliber defense will see most of their stars return next season, so letting him walk might not be in their best interests.

One thing’s for sure: The Chiefs will get better in the offseason, and that’s a scary thought for the rest of the league.
