GOOD NEWS: Stoke City working on loan deal for promotion winner….

Stoke City are working on a loan deal to sign Leicester City defender Conor Coady this summer, according to a report by TEAMtalk.

Stoke City are interested in landing the centre-back in the upcoming transfer window as they prepare for their first full season under the guidance of former Plymouth Argyle boss Steven Schumacher. They finished 17th in the table last season, six points above the bottom three.

Coady, 31, won the Championship title with Leicester City and helped them secure an immediate return to the Premier League. However, he wasn’t a regular starter for Enzo Maresca’s side and was mainly used as back-up and cover.

In this latest update regarding his situation at the King Power Stadium, TEAMtalk claim the Potters are believed to be leading the race in this particular pursuit at this moment in time. However, they face competition from ‘several’ other teams in the second tier.

Stoke City want Leicester City man

Stoke City could see Coady as someone to add more competition and depth to their defensive department.

He is a vastly experienced player in the Football League and knows what it takes to get promoted to the top flight.

Leicester City snapped him up last summer following their relegation and he has since made 17 competitive appearances for them, 12 of which came in the league.

His contract with the Foxes runs until June 2026 but his game time could dry up even more in the next campaign.

Coady started out at Liverpool and rose up through the academy ranks at Anfield before playing two times for their first-team as a youngster.

He had a loan spell at Sheffield United before Huddersfield Town signed him on a permanent basis in 2014.

The Liverpudlian then spent a year with the Terriers before Wolves lured him to the Molineux.

Coady was a great servant to the Midlands outfit and played 317 matches for them altogether, helping them rise to the Premier League.

He then had a temporary stint at Everton before Leicester City came calling.

Stoke City latest

Stoke City will be aiming to compete at the top end of the table next term and Coady would be a shrewd addition.

He is a safe pair of hands and would tighten up Schumacher’s defensive department. Other clubs are said to be in the frame though so the Potters may need to act fast here.
